Gamecock Invite Day 3: Ben Delmar Shatters UNC Record with 1:49.7 200 Breast
The 2025 Gamecock Swimming Invitational, held from November 18-21 at the Carolina Natatorium in Columbia, SC, featured a thrilling third day of competition. With teams from SCAD (NAIA), South Carolina, North Carolina, East Carolina, Tampa (DII), Florida Southern (DII), Georgia Southern, North Florida, and Carson-Newman (DII) participating, the event showcased exceptional talent across the board.

Highlights from Day 3
UNC's Dominance Continues:
UNC started the day on a high note, winning both the women's and men's 200 free relays. In the women's relay, Kamryn Meskill, Michaela Chokureva, Mackenzie Headley, and Eden Goettsch combined for a 1:29.85, while South Carolina finished second with a 1:30.13. The men's relay saw UNC's Martin Kartavi, Louis Dramm, Sean Setzer, and Nate Hohm dominate with a 1:16.77, nearly 2 seconds ahead of the competition.
Individual Excellence:
UNC's Sophia Frei won the women's 100 back in 52.06, setting a new career best. South Carolina's Ryan Hufford followed suit, winning the men's 100 back in 46.59, improving his previous best.
Gamecocks' Triumphs:
Delaney Franklin of South Carolina claimed the women's 200 breast in 2:09.92, her first sub-2:10 performance in the event. The star of the night, however, was UNC's Ben Delmar, who shattered the UNC program record in the men's 200 breast with a blistering 1:49.76, his first sub-1:50 time in the event.
500-Meter Success:
South Carolina's Nora Fluck won the women's 500 free in 4:42.82, while Pierre Largeron of South Carolina claimed the men's 500 in 4:13.93, setting a new career best.
UNC's 50-Meter Triumphs:
UNC's Kamryn Meskill won the women's 50 free in 22.48, though she had previously achieved a faster time of 22.33. Martin Kartavi of UNC took the men's 50 free in 19.55.
Medley Relay Thrills:
The women's 400 medley relay was a close affair, with South Carolina winning in 3:33.42, just 0.02 seconds ahead of UNC. UNC's men's 400 medley relay team, featuring Colin Whelehan, Ben Delmar, Seb Lunak, and Louis Dramm, secured a victory in 3:04.84.
