Some manufacturers are only opting for the GB certification, making their latest models incompatible with Northern Ireland's regulations.

While the rest of the UK enjoys a wider selection, Northern Ireland faces a shrinking market. A spokesperson from Charles Hurst, Jeff McCartney, sheds light on the issue: 'Vauxhall's retail sales in the UK are soaring, but in Northern Ireland, they're plummeting. The gap is widening, and it's a cause for concern.'

The NFDA's spokesperson, Alastair Peoples, emphasizes the urgency: 'The industry is facing critical challenges. Dealers are contemplating job cuts, and consumers are paying the price with reduced choices and higher costs.'

But there's a glimmer of hope. The government has assured that they are working to ensure manufacturers obtain dual approvals, promising no restrictions on car choices for Northern Ireland.
