FIA Region II (Asia Pacific) Hosts Ideas Forum and Business Planning Session in Tokyo
The FIA Region II Ideas Forum and Business Planning Session, held in Tokyo from November 12-13 by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), provided an opportunity for club leaders to reflect on the region's activities over the past four years and set priorities for future growth and impact. The event welcomed a range of esteemed guests, including FIA Secretary General for Mobility & Sustainability, Willem Groenewald, FIA President of the Senate, Carmelo Sanz de Barros, JAF President, Masayoshi Sakaguchi, Region II President, Augustus ‘Joe’ Ferreria, and executives from 11 Region II Clubs.
During the workshops, facilitated by business consultant Chris Nightingale, regional executives identified four key priorities for Region II's roadmap over the next four years:
- Tourism: Emphasizing reciprocity agreements and cross-border commercial activities to enhance member benefits.
- OEM Programme: Expanding the program's scope to include more clubs and exploring new commercial opportunities.
- International Driving Permits (IDPs): Collaborating on marketing initiatives and sharing knowledge to combat fraudulent companies selling fake permits.
- Road Safety: Leveraging the Safe Mobility 4 All & 4 Life program and continuing advocacy efforts to improve safety standards for mobility users across the region.
FIA Region II will now establish leadership groups to manage these priorities effectively and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress over the next four years. Additionally, AA Philippines (AAP) executives introduced a new 'Learning Management System' portal, which will enable clubs across Region II to access resources and foster greater collaboration. AI will play a significant role in this collaboration tool, including content creation, translation, and individual learning modules.
FIA Region II President Augustus ‘Joe’ Ferreria expressed his dedication to advancing the region, stating, 'Together with the AAP team, we will focus on improving communication, expanding membership, and collaborating with the FIA to identify commercially sustainable programs for our clubs.'
The Forum concluded with a visit to the Tokyo Traffic Control Centre and JAF's Emergency Road-Side Assistance Tokyo Branch, further enriching the learning experience. This comprehensive approach ensures that Region II continues to thrive and make a positive impact on the automotive community.
