Quentin Tarantino, the legendary filmmaker, reveals the intriguing reason behind his collaboration with Fortnite, involving a long-lost chapter from his iconic film, 'Kill Bill'.
In a captivating revelation, Tarantino shared his initial assumption about the meeting with Fortnite's creative team. He believed they sought to license his characters and ideas for a fun project. However, the filmmaker was pleasantly surprised when Fortnite approached him with a unique request.
They asked Tarantino to create a specific content piece, a 8- to 12-minute segment, without explicitly mentioning the inclusion of his iconic characters. This led Tarantino to uncover a hidden gem from the first draft of 'Kill Bill' titled 'The Lost Chapter: Yuki's Revenge'. This chapter, initially deemed too action-packed and impractical to film, features Yuki, the twin sister of Gogo Yubari, seeking revenge for her sister's death.
The collaboration between Tarantino and Fortnite resulted in an animated short, bringing this lost chapter to life. Tarantino, who directed and voiced the character of Bill, expressed his excitement about the crossover appeal, stating that it's a great way to launch the new season. The short, powered by Unreal Engine and Epic Games, will premiere on November 30th at 2 p.m. ET on Fortnite.
Additionally, fans can experience the full 'Kill Bill' saga on the big screen with 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair', an exclusive theatrical run combining Volume 1 and Volume 2 as Tarantino originally envisioned. This cinematic event will debut in select theaters across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom on December 5th.
