Porsche has just introduced a fresh 911 GT3 model that pays homage to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche himself. As the grandson of Porsche’s founder and a renowned designer who helped shape the original 911, F.A. Porsche’s influence looms large over this new release. The car, aptly named the 911 GT3 90 F.A. Porsche, honors his legacy with a limited run of 90 units, all crafted by Sonderwunsch Manufaktur, Porsche’s bespoke division for custom builds. The exterior features F.A. Green, a hue inspired by the designer’s personal Oak Green 911, paired with Satin Black wheels and a vintage Porsche crest on the wheel hubs.
Inside, the cabin nods to F.A. Porsche’s personal style: a grid-weave fabric reminiscent of his favorite sport coat and a Chronograph 1-inspired clock perched above the instrument cluster. The shift lever carries a walnut handle, and a plaque bearing F.A. Porsche’s signature and a silhouette of the original 911 is displayed prominently.
These intricate details are likely meaningful to F.A. Porsche, who also founded Porsche Design and helped shape cars like the early 911 and the Porsche 904. The 911 GT3 90 F.A. Porsche builds on the standard 911 GT3 with Touring Package, which starts at $230,500. However, this special edition commands a much higher price, at $387,000. Like its Touring Package siblings, it uses a 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing 502 horsepower.
The 90-unit limit isn’t arbitrary: it mirrors F.A. Porsche’s 90th birthday. One of the units is reserved for Mark Porsche, F.A. Porsche’s son. Production will begin the following year after buyers finalize their customization choices.
As Porsche cofounder Ferdinand Alexander Porsche himself liked to say, “When you consider the function of a product, in most cases the form follows suit automatically.” In that sense, the 911 continues to exemplify that philosophy.
